Warm Up Routine


Dynamic Stretching for 5 mins then right into jumping rope. Jump to high energy music for 3 three minute rounds with some exercises in-between rounds. Priming your body by breaking a light sweat will really help you get the most out of the rest of class.


Time to De-stress


Right now we strap up our boxing gloves and start punching stuff. At Westchester Fight Club we have a bag area with 30 boxing bags, so every person in class can have their own. Punching is the best stress reliever. There’s nothing more fun then winding up and smashing a punching bag as hard as you can and turning life’s problems on mute for the hour of class. We aren’t just whacking the punching bag aimlessly, the trainer will take you through different combinations using punches, knees, and kicks. You will probably seem a bit uncoordinated and off base in the first session, regardless of your fitness level. Because the difficult techniques will be different for your muscles, not just your brain. Though the combos usually are made up of basic combinations, when all is said and done, it is a routine that improves with time. Plan to give yourself 3 or 4 classes before you feel comfortable with the techniques. Many workouts blend the same basic movements in a different order or portion of the combo.


Buddy Drills

At this point we have the class split up. Don’t worry you are not attacking each other but you will hold pads or focus mitts for the other person. Now you get to pretend to be a trainer holding pads for his fighter then change off and end up being the fighter striking the pads. You might feel a little a little bit like a newb but don’t fret, it takes a couple of classes to get your moves down, both for hitting thai pads and for being a good partner and holding them. At your next or third session it will be a no-brainer for you.


Time for Abs


Your abdominals will already be feeling all the kicks and punches you have thrown. In our workouts we still make time to work on our core and do some ab exercises. To get our girls ready for bikini season we’ll do all different ab work to help you get back in that bikini.


Finishing Strong

We finish our sessions with some stretching and high fives for for finishing your first class. In an hour of Boxing you scorched more calories than you could running on a treadmill , stationary bike, or lifting weights.


Each component of our class will work the major muscles of the body. The combination of using the muscles in such a fast manner tones as well as develops a stamina that can speed up your metabolism. The first 15 minutes

Then after the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just long enough to teach the next round’s combo. After a class or 2 you will begin to look like you know what you are doing. You will most likely feel a bit uncoordinated and off balance in the first session, regardless of your fitness level. Because the demanding moves will be different for your body, not just your brain. Though the rounds usually are made up of pretty basic combinations, when all is said and done, it is a routine that gets better with practice. Plan to give yourself 3 or 4 sessions before you feel like you know the moves. All sessions mix the same general moves in a different order or part of the combo.


Pad work

Following a few rounds on the heavy bags we then partner you and give you focus mitts or a kick shield. Now we perform partner exercises with one girl holding punching pads while the other is pounding away on them and bobbing and weaving in between. We divide the class into new girls and more advanced students so the new students have simpler more basic combos while the more skilled kick boxers get longer more intricate combinations. Don’t think that holding pads is time to slack, in your first workout you will discover very quick that holding pads is almost as tough as hitting them.


Crunch Time


Your abdominals will already be feeling all the kicks and punches you have thrown. In our workouts we still take the time to work on our core and do some ab exercises. To get our girls ready for summer we’ll do all different ab work to help you get back in that bikini.


Now its time to grab some free weights. Now its time to finish strong and push it class is almost over. The Last thing we do is get a pair of weights. Punching will help define your arms but after a few rounds on the bag rack grabbing a set of dumbbells and weight training with the group will help you achieve the sculpted and toned arms you’re looking for.


Finishing Strong

Good job, you made it through your first class. Props for pushing it and making it through. an hour of kickboxing burns more calories then lifting weights, jogging on a treadmill machine , or riding a bike. Stretching/Warm-up


We blast some beats on the stereo system and then start our warmup. Have a high energy atmosphere in the bag rack before we start. Which ever the teacher decides on that day much like the tunes, we will warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We sweat and elevate your heart rate in order to get the most out of your training and help prevent injury.


Gloves on


Now its time to hit stuff! We glove up and get ready to work. Our bag area holds 30 punching bags, this isn’t a taebo class, you need to feel your fist hit something when you throw a strike . Hitting bags is the best stress reliever. There’s nothing more fun then winding up and hitting a heavy bag as hard as you can and placing life’s issues on mute for the hour of class. We aren’t just striking the punching bag aimlessly, the trainer will take you through different combinations using punches, knees, and kicks. The more classes you take the better you will become, a lot of new students think a few of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are fighters, thats how good their striking has gotten.


When we are all done with the bags we change it up and will have you partner up with another student in class. One student will hold pads for the other. Newer kickboxers will have easier combos while our students that have been with us longer have more difficult combinations. In your very first session you’ll find out that holding mitts isn’t a rest period . Its nearly just as hard as punching them.


Ab Round


The full body mechanics of throwing a punch or kick already gives you a sick ab and core workout. In our classes we still take the time to work on our core and do some ab movements. Sit ups, side planks, med ball slams,.

and twists help to make you feel the burn and get your tummy toned for bikini season.


Now its time to pick up some weight. Time to finish strong and push it class is almost over. Adding weight lifting into the class is what is going to make all the difference when it comes to getting a toned body Boxing will help tone your arms but then after an a couple of minutes on the bag grabbing a pair of dumbbells and lifting with the group will help you achieve the defined and toned arms you’re looking for.

The more classes you take the better you will get, new students think some of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are competitors, thats how awesome their technique has gotten.

We will have each girl pick up a set of dumbbells and do shoulder, arms, and lower body exercises. This is a great way to build some muscle while pushing your body to burn extra calories. Our women also train with some 10 lb weights during class. Punching will help tone your arms but after a few rounds on the boxing bag picking up a set of dumbbells and following along with the group will help you get the firm and toned arms you’re looking for.
