Our coaches are all fighters and they’ll show you proper technique to get the most power and speed from your kicks and punches. Stretching and Jump Rope
Dynamic Stretching for five minutes then right into jumping rope. 3 Three min rounds of jump rope and in-between rounds we do some exercises. By opening with 15 minutes of stretching and warming up movements you will get more out of your body for the next 45 minutes of class.
Working on the Punching Bags
Time to punch stuff! We glove up and get ready to go. At WFC we have a bag area with 30 punching bags, so every person in class can have their own. Pounding the crap out of a boxing bag and acting like its your boss or ex is the greatest stress reliever. The instructor will give you a combo that you will practice for the entire round and attempt to get it right before you get too tired. Then between the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just enough time to teach the next round’s combo. After a class or 2 you’ll begin to look like you know how to kick some butt. The more classes you take the better you will get, new members think a couple of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are fighters, thats how awesome their kickboxing has gotten.
Pad work
When we finish on the bags we switch it up and have you pair up with another client in class. One student will hold pads for the other. New kickboxers will have less complicated combinations while our students that have been with us longer have more difficult combos. Don’t for a second think that holding for a partner is a break, in your first class you will discover very quick that holding pads is almost as tough as hitting them.
Gut buster time
The whole body mechanics of throwing a punch or kick already gives you a great ab and core workout. In our workouts we still make time to work on our core and do some ab movements. sizzors, Planks, med ball slams,.
and twists help to make you feel the burn and get your tummy toned for summer.
At the end we will have each member pick up a set of dumbbells and do shoulder, arms, and lower body exercises. This is a great way to build muscle while pushing your body to burn extra calories. Utilizing both cardio and weight lifting in the same workout will help tone and definition in your arms, back, and shoulders. Pounding on the punching bag and holding pads already have your arms like jelly but there is no stopping now if you want toned and defined shoulders, back, and arms.
Finishing Strong
Good job, you made it through your first class. Some light stretching and some words of encouragement from your coaches for making it through your first of many sessions here at WFC. an hour of kickboxing burns more calories then lifting weights, running on a treadmill machine , or riding a bike.
