The rewards of switching your routine is well worth the new aches and pains. Get shreded and in the best shape of your life. What more could you want from your training? Our classes are all non contact so you can train exactly like a fighter without ever having to worry that co workers in your office will think you’re beaten at home. The only thing you will be hitting is a heavy bag or kickboxing pads. I will take you through a standard kickboxing class at WFC.
Stretching and Jump Rope
We start class with five minutes of dynamic stretching then jump rope. Jump to high energy music for 3 three minute rounds with some calisthenics in-between rounds. Priming your body by breaking a light sweat will help you get the most out of the rest of class.
Time to Hit Stuff
Its time to hit stuff! We glove up and get ready to work. At Westchester MMA we have a bag rack with 30 hanging bags, so every person in class can have their own. Punching is the best stress reliever. There’s nothing better then winding up and hitting a heavy bag as hard as you can and placing life’s issues on mute for the sixty mins of class. The trainer will show you a combo that you’ll work on for the whole round and attempt to perfect before you get too tired. Then between the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just long enough to teach you the next round’s combination. After a few classes you’ll begin to look like you know how to kick some butt. The more classes you take the better you will get, new students think some of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are competitors, thats how good their striking has gotten.
At this point we have the class partner up. Don’t worry you’re not attacking each other but you will hold pads or focus mitts for the other person. Now you and your workout partner will appear to be a trainer and their boxer, and you’ll get to swap and play both roles. You might feel a little a little bit like a newb but don’t worry, it takes a few try’s to get your technique down, both for smacking mitts and for being a good gym buddy and holding them. After your 1st or second class it will be a breeze .
Gut buster time
The whole body mechanics of throwing a punch or kick already gives you an amazing ab and core workout. In our workouts we still take the time to work on our core and do some ab work. bicycles, side planks, med ball throws,.
and twists make you feel the burn and get your midsection ready for bikini season.
Cool off
And your first training session is done. Props for pushing it and making it through. 60 minutes of kickboxing burns more calories then lifting weights, jogging on a treadmill , or riding a bike.
