The way to effectively punch, kick, and knee to optimize power and speed. You never fight with another student in our Women’s Only kickboxing classes so you will never have to fret about getting hit. I will give you a walk through of a typical class here at Westchester Cardio Kickboxing.
Get Ready to Work
We blast some beats on the radio and then begin our stretches. We need to get the mood and energy level up to start. Which ever the coach decides on that day just like the tunes, we will warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We want to get the muscles warm and loose in order to get the most from the rest of class.
Bag Work
Right now its time to put on our boxing gloves and start hitting stuff. Our bag area holds 30 heavy bags, this isn’t a taebo class, you need to feel your fist move something when you throw a strike . Beating the crap out of a heavy bag and pretending its your boss or ex is a great stress reliever. We aren’t just smacking the heavy bag aimlessly, the teacher will take you through many combinations working with punches, knees, and kicks. The more classes you take the better you will get, a lot of new students think some of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are competitors, thats how good their technique has become.
Pad work
Now we do partner drills. Its not to make you square up with one another, now will hold mitts for each other. Now you get to act like a trainer holding pads for his fighter then change off and end up being the fighter bashing the mitts. Don’t get discouraged either, just like it takes a few classes to feel balanced and smooth striking the pads and bags, the same thing can be said for learning to hold pads. At your next or third workout it will be a breeze for you.
6 Pack Secrets
Your abs will already be feeling all the kicks and punches you have thrown. In our workouts we still take the time to isolate our core and do some ab exercises. To get you ready for summer we’ll do all different ab work to help you get back in that swimsuit.
Cool Down
And your first training session is done. Props for pushing it and making it through. an hour of kickboxing burns more calories then lifting weights, jogging on a fitness treadmill, or riding a bike.
