The advantages of switching your routine is worth the new aches and pains. Get shreded and in the best shape since highschool. Those two things are what everybody would like from their workouts. Our classes are all non contact so you can train exactly like a fighter without ever having to worry that clients in your office will think you’re beaten at home. So rather than fighting with other students, the only thing you will be beating up is our heavy bags or striking pads. I’ll take you through a standard session at Westchester Cardio Kickboxing.
The first 15 minutes
We blast some music on the stereo and then begin our warmup. Get a high energy atmosphere in the bag rack before we start. Whatever the coach chooses that day just like the radio, warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We break a sweat and elevate your heart rate in order to get the most out of your workout and help minimize the risk of injury.
Bag Work
Now its time to strap up our gloves and start punching stuff. At WFC we have a bag rack with 30 boxing bags, so every person in class can have their own. Boxing is a great stress reliever. There’s nothing better then winding up and punching a punching bag as hard as you can and placing life’s drama on the back burner for the sixty mins of class. We aren’t just whacking the heavy bag aimlessly, the teacher will take you through different combos of punches, knees, and kicks. The more you train the better you will get, new clients think a couple of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are competitors, thats how awesome their kickboxing has gotten.
Pad work
When we are all done on the boxing bags we switch it up and will have you partner up with another woman in class. One girl will hold for the other. We split it up into new girls and more advanced students so the new students have easier more basic combos while the more experienced kick boxers get longer more intricate combos. Don’t think that holding for a partner is a break, in your first session you will discover very quick that holding pads is almost as tough as hitting them.
Gut buster time
Time for Abs, even though without knowing it you have been training your core the full class, corkscrewing your form on punching and kicks. However, a complete kickboxing workout should include training the abs and lower back through movements as leg raises, sizzors, and planking. Developing the core will really help your techniques get better, build your power and stamina, and it will start to show your six pack abs.

Congratulations, you crushed it and made it through your very first class.
