Warm up and Stretching
We blast some beats on the speakers and then begin our warmup. We have to get the vibe and energy level up to start. Then we’ll do some light stretching and also run some laps around the gym or jump rope. We need to get the muscles warm and loose to get the most out of the rest of class.
Bag Work
Now we put on our gloves and start hitting stuff. Our bag rack holds thirty heavy bags, this isn’t a taebo class, you need to feel your fist hit something when you throw a strike . Beating the crap out of a bag and imagining its your boss or ex is a great stress reducer. We aren’t just striking the heavy bag aimlessly, the teacher will take you through different types of combos of punches, knees, and kicks. When we are done with the punching bags we switch it up and have you pair up with another client in class. One girl will hold pads for their partner. We divide the class into beginner and more advanced girls so the new students have simpler more basic combos while the more advanced kick boxers get longer more intricate combos. In your very first workout you’ll see that holding mitts isn’t a rest period . Its nearly just as hard as punching them.
Time for Abs
Time for Abs, even though without realizing it you’ve been exercising your abdominals the entire session, twisting your body on strikes and kicks. At this time we do some abdominal work. planking, bicycles, and russian twists, all fun stuff. All strength starts at your core so this work will help you out in future sessions.
Now its time to grab some free weights. This is a great way to build up some muscle while pushing your body to burn some extra calories. Including weights into the class is going to make all the difference when it comes to getting a toned body Boxing will help define your arms but after a 15 minutes on the boxing bag grabbing a set of dumbbells and lifting with the group will help you get the firm and toned arms you’re looking for.
