A new training routine will keep your body guessing and changing, so you might be sore in areas you never felt before. Get shreded and in the best shape since highschool. Those two results are what everybody would like from their workouts. Our classes are all non contact so you can workout exactly like a fighter without ever having to worry that co workers in your office will think you’re abused at home. The only thing you will be hitting is a bag or kickboxing pads. I will walk you through a typical session at WFC.
Warming Up
Our warmup starts with high energy music, whatever we feel like that day, Rock, EDM, or some 90′s pop. Have a high energy vibe in the room before we start. Which ever the coach chooses that day just like the music, we will warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We sweat and elevate your heart rate to get the most out of your body and help avoid injury.
Bag Work
Its time to punch stuff! We glove up and get ready to go. Our bag area holds 30 heavy bags, this isn’t a taebo class, you need to feel your fist hit something when you throw a blow. Kickboxing is a great stress reliever. There’s nothing better then winding up and punching a punching bag as hard as you can and turning life’s drama on the back burner for the hour of class. The teacher will show you a combination that you will do for the whole round and attempt to perfect before you get out of breathe. Then after the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just enough time to teach you the next round’s combination. After a class or 2 you’ll start to look like you know what you’re doing. The more you train the better you will get, a lot of new students think a few of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are fighters, thats how good their striking has gotten.
Buddy Drills
Now we do partner drills. Don’t worry you’re not attacking each other but you will hold pads or focus mitts for one another. Now you and your workout buddy will appear to be a trainer and their fighter, and you will get to switch and play both sides. You might feel a little a little bit like a newb but don’t worry, it takes a few workouts to get your technique down, both for striking pads and for being a good partner and holding them. After your first or second workout it’ll be a piece of cake.
Crunch Time
Your abdominals will definitely be feeling all the kicks and punches you have thrown. We still stop punching and kicking to work on our ladies’ tummies and do some ab work. siccors, side planks, medicine ball throws,.
and twists help to make you feel the burn and get your tummy ready for bikini season.
Now its time to pick up some dumbbells. This is a great way to build up some muscle while forcing your body to burn extra calories. Our women also lift with some 10 lb weights during class. Pounding on the heavy bag and holding pads already have your arms cooked but there is no whining now if you want toned and defined shoulders, back, and arms.
Cool off
And your first training session is done. Some light stretching and some words of encouragement from your fellow students for making it through your first of many classes here at Westchester MMA. 60 minutes of kickboxing burns more calories then lifting weights, jogging on a running machine , or riding a bike. If you’re from Goldens Bridge you need to take us up on our FREE 30 Day Trial of kickboxing classes in Goldens Bridge and come get your FREE one on one welcoming lesson to get started.
