Our classes are all non contact so you can train exactly like a fighter without ever having to stress that folks in your office will think you’re abused at home. The only thing you will be striking is a heavy bag or kickboxing pads. Lets break down our 1 hour cardio kickboxing session at Westchester Cardio Kickboxing.
Get Ready to Work
We begin class with 5 minutes of stretching and jump rope. Jump along to high energy music for 3 3 minute rounds with some calisthenics in-between rounds. Priming your body by breaking a light sweat will really help you get the most out of the rest of class.
Working on the Punching Bags
Its time to hit stuff! We glove up and get ready to go. At Westchester Cardio Kickboxing we have a bag mat with 30 bags, so every person in class can have their own. Punching is a great stress reliever. There’s nothing more fun then winding up and smashing a bag as hard as you can and turning life’s problems on mute for the sixty minutes of class. The teacher will give you a combination that you’ll practice for the entire round and attempt to get it right before you get too tired. Then between the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just long enough to demonstrate the next round’s combo. After a class or 2 you’ll start to look like you know what you’re doing. The more classes you take the better you will get, new clients think a few of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are fighters, thats how good their kickboxing has gotten.
Pad work
When we finish with the bags we change it up and will have you partner up with another member in class. One girl will hold for another. We split it up into new girls and more advanced girls so the newer students have easier more basic combos while the more advanced kick boxers get longer more advanced combinations. Don’t for a second think that holding mitts is a break, in your first session you’ll discover very quick that holding pads is almost as tough as hitting them.
Crunch Time
Your abdominals will definitely be feeling all the kicks and punches you have thrown. In our workouts we still take the time to work on our core and do some ab exercises. siccors, Planking, medicine ball throws,.
and twists make you feel the burn and get your tummy toned for the beach.
Cool Down
And your first training session is done. Some light stretching and some words of encouragement from your trainers for making it through your first of many sessions here at WFC. a full class of kickboxing burns more calories then lifting weights, running on a treadmill , or riding a bike.
