Take your self esteem back! Not only do you look better and have more energy from being active and exercising, you will also be trained basic self defense. Our coaches are all fighters and they will show you proper technique to get the most strength and speed from your kicks and punches. You don’t ever box with another member in our Women’s Only kickboxing classes so you will never should worry about getting hit. Let me give you the tour of a kickboxing class at Westchester Cardio Kickboxing.
Warm up and Stretching
Dynamic Stretching for five mins then afterwards right into jumping rope. Three 3 minute rounds of jump rope and in-between rounds we do some exercises. By opening with 15 minutes of stretching and warming up calisthenics you will get more from your muscles for the next 45 minutes of class.
Working on the Boxing Bags
Its time to punch stuff! We glove up and get ready to go. Our bag area holds thirty boxing bags, this isn’t a taebo class, you want to feel your fist move something when you throw a strike . Pounding the crap out of a punching bag and pretending its your manager or ex is the best stress relief. We aren’t just blasting the heavy bag aimlessly, the trainer will take you through different types of combos of punches, knees, and kicks. You will most likely seem a bit uncoordinated and off base in the first workout, no matter what your fitness level. Since the difficult techniques will be different for your muscles, not just your brain. Though the combos usually are comprised of relatively basic combos, when all is said and done, it is a technique that improves with time. Plan to give yourself 3 or 4 classes before you feel like you know the techniques. All workouts combine the same general movements in a different order or part of the combo.
At this point we have the class partner up. Don’t worry you’re not fighting each other but you will hold pads or focus mitts for one another. Now you and your workout buddy will appear to be a trainer and their boxer, and you will get to swap and play both sides. You might feel a little awkward but don’t worry, it takes a couple of classes to get your technique down, both for hitting pads and for being a good gym buddy and holding them. At your 2nd or third kickboxing class it will be a breeze for you.
Core Training and Calisthenics
The entire body motion of throwing a punch or kick already gives you a great ab and core workout. We still make time to work on our ladies’ midsections and do some ab work. Sit ups, side planks, medicine ball slams,.
and twists make you feel the burn and get your midsection ready for the beach.
Now its time to grab some free weights. Time to finish strong and push it class is almost over. Our ladies also workout with some weights during class. Punching will help define your arms but after a 15 minutes on the heavy bag picking up a pair of dumbbells and following along with the group will help you get the defined and toned arms you’re searching for.
Finishing Strong
Congrats, you Did it and killed your very first class.
Each component of our workouts will train the major muscles of the body. The combination of using the muscles in such an explosive manner tones as well as builds a stamina that can speed up the metabolism. It should not take long to witness the benefits of this intense workout. If you live in Tarrytown you should definitely take us up on our 30 Day Free Trial of Kickboxing Classes.
