Kickboxing gives you a sense of confidence. You’ll learn how to defend yourself all while losing weight and getting in amazing shape. Our trainers are all fighters and they will show you effective technique to get the most strength and speed from your kicks and punches. You never box with another student in our Women’s Only kickboxing classes so you will never should think about getting hit. I’ll give you a rundown of a kickboxing class here at WFC.
Stretching and Jump Rope
Our warmup begins with high energy music, whatever we feel like that day, Rock, EDM, or some 90′s pop. We need to get the state of mind and energy level up to get started. Then we’ll do some light stretching and possibly sprint some laps around the gym or jump rope. We sweat and elevate your heart rate to get the most from your workout and help avoid injury.
Working on the Boxing Bags
Its time to punch stuff! We glove up and get ready to work. At WFC we have a bag mat with 30 bags, so every person in class can have their own. Hitting things is the best stress reliever. There’s nothing more relaxing then winding up and smashing a bag as hard as you can and turning life’s drama on mute for the 60 mins of class. The instructor will give you a combo that you’ll do for the full round and try to get it right before you get out of breathe. Then between the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just enough time to demonstrate the next round’s combo. After a couple of classes you’ll begin to look like you know how to kick some butt. The more classes you take the better you will get, new members think a couple of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are fighters, thats how awesome their kickboxing has become.
Buddy Drills
At this point we have the class split up. Don’t worry you’re not striking each other but you will hold pads or focus mitts for each other. Now you and your partner will look like a trainer and their boxer, and you’ll get to switch and play both roles. You might feel a little like a spazz at first but don’t stress, it takes a couple of classes to get your moves down, both for striking mitts and for being a good gym buddy and holding them. At your next or third class it will be a breeze for you.
Crunch Time
Your abs will already be feeling all the kicks and punches you have thrown. We still stop punching and kicking to train our ladies’ tummies and do some abdominal training. To get our kickboxers ready for the beach we’ll do all different abdominal training to help you get back in that swimsuit.
Now its time to pick up some free weights. This is a great way to build muscle while forcing your body to burn some extra calories. Our ladies also workout with some 10 pound dumbbells in class. Punching will help define your arms but then after an a couple of minutes on the bag getting a pair of dumbbells and following along with the group will help you get the defined and toned arms you’re searching for.
Cool off
Congratulations, you crushed it and killed your first class.
