Kickboxing provides a sense of self-confidence. You will discover how to defend yourself all while dropping body fat and getting in awesome shape. Tips on how to effectively punch, kick, and knee to optimize power and speed. Just because our instructors are fighters doesn’t mean you will have to fight. There is no contact in any of our cardio kickboxing classes so you won’t ever have to worry about having a bruise on your beautiful face. Let me give you the walk through of a kickboxing class at WFC.

Warm up and Stretching

We blast some beats on the radio and then start our warmup. We have to get the state of mind and energy level up to start. Whichever the coach chooses that day the same as the radio, warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We need to get the muscles warm and loose in order to get the most from the rest of class.

Bag Work

Its time to punch stuff! We glove up and get ready to go. Our bag rack holds 30 punching bags, this isn’t a taebo class, you want to feel your fist move something when you throw a punch . Hammering the crap out of a heavy bag and acting like its your manager or ex boyfriend is the greatest stress reducer. The trainer will show you a combination that you’ll practice for the whole round and attempt to get it right before you get too tired. Then between the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just long enough to demonstrate the next round’s combo. After a class or 2 you will start to look like you know what you’re doing. You will most likely seem a bit uncoordinated and off base in the first lesson, no matter what your fitness level. Because the challenging techniques will be different for your body, not just your brain. Though the routines usually are made up of relatively basic combos, when all is said and done, it is a routine that gets better with time. Plan to give yourself 3 or 4 sessions before you feel like you know the movements. Most routines mix the same basic moves in a different order or portion of the combination.

Partner Up

When we finish on the heavy bags we change it up and will have you pair up with another member in class. Now we perform partner exercises with one student holding pads while the other is punching, kicking, bobbing, and weaving. Brand-new girls will have much easier combinations while our girls that have been with us longer have more advanced combos. In your very first session you’ll realize that holding mitts isn’t a break. Its nearly just as tough as hitting them.

Crunch Time

Your abdominals will definitely be feeling all the kicks and punches you’ve thrown. In our workouts we still take the time to isolate our core and do some abdominal work. To get our girls ready for summertime we’ll do all different abdominal training to help you get back in that bikini.

Cool Down

Congrats, you Did it and finished your 1st class.

Each part of our workouts will work the major muscles of the body. The combination of using the muscles in such an explosive manner tones as well as builds an endurance that can quicken the metabolism. It will not take long to see the benefits of this intense class. If you live in Elmsford you should definitely take us up on our 30 Day Free Trial of Kickboxing Classes.
