Kickboxing brings you a renewed sense of self-esteem. Not only will you look better and have more energy from being active and exercising, you will also be taught basic self defense. The way to effectively punch, kick, and knee to optimize power and speed. You never fight with another member in our Women’s Only kickboxing classes so you will never have to think about getting hit. Let me give you the run down of a kickboxing class at Westchester Cardio Kickboxing.

Warm up and Stretching

We blast some music on the stereo system and then start our warmup. We need to get the atmosphere and energy level up to get going. Then we will do some light stretching and run some laps around the gym or jump rope. We want to get the muscles warm and loose in order to get the most out of the rest of the workout.

Time to De-stress

Right now we strap up our gloves and start punching stuff. At WFC we have a bag mat with 30 boxing bags, so every person in class can have their own. Kickboxing is the best stress reliever. There’s nothing better then winding up and smashing a bag as hard as you can and turning life’s issues on the back burner for the 60 minutes of class. We aren’t just striking the punching bag aimlessly, the coach will take you through different types of combinations working with punches, knees, and kicks. You will most likely feel a little uncoordinated and off balance in the first workout, no matter what your fitness level. Since the difficult techniques will be different for your body, not just your brain. Though the combinations usually are basic combinations, when all is said and done, it is a routine that gets easier with practice. Plan to give your body 3 or 4 sessions before you feel like you know the moves. Many classes blend the same basic techniques in a different order or portion of the combination.

Partner Up

Now we do buddy drills. Don’t worry you are not attacking each other but you will hold pads or focus mitts for each other. Now you and your partner will appear to be a coach and their boxer, and you will get to switch and play both sides. Don’t get discouraged either, just like it takes a few classes to feel balanced and smooth punching the mitts and heavy bags, the same thing can be said for learning to hold pads. After your first or next work out it’ll be a piece of cake.

Ab Round

The full body mechanics of throwing a punch or kick already gives you an amazing ab and core workout. We still make time to work on our ladies’ stomaches and do some abdominal training. siccors, Planks, med ball slams,.

and twists make you feel the burn and get your midsection toned for the beach.

Finishing Strong

We finish our sessions with some stretching and high fives for finishing strong. In an hour of kickboxing class you burned more calories than you could running on a treadmill , riding a bike, or lifting weights.

Each part of our class will train the major muscles of the body. The combination of using the muscles in such a quick manner tones as well as builds a stamina that can quicken the metabolism. It will not take long to see the benefits of this intense workout. If you live in Pleasantville you should definitely take us up on our 30 Day Free Trial of Kickboxing Classes.
