Get Ready to Work


We blast some music on the speakers and then start our warmup. Get a high energy atmosphere in the room before we get going. Whichever the coach chooses that day just like the music, warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We sweat and elevate your heart rate to get the most out of your training and help avoid injury.


Bag Work


Right now we put on our gloves and start hitting stuff. At Westchester Fight Club we have a bag mat with 30 boxing bags, so everyone in class can have their own. Beating the crap out of a bag and acting like its your boss or ex is the greatest stress reliever. The instructor will give you a combo that you’ll practice for the whole round and attempt to perfect before you get out of breathe. Then after the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just long enough to show you the next round’s combination. After a class or 2 you will begin to appear like you know how to kick some butt. The more you train the better you will get, a lot of new students think some of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are competitors, thats how good their technique has gotten.


At this point we have the class split up. Don’t worry you are not fighting each other but you will hold pads or focus mitts for the other person. Now you and your partner will look like a coach and their fighter, and you will get to switch and play both roles. You might feel a little like a spazz at first but don’t stress, it only takes a couple of try’s to get your technique down, both for striking thai pads and for being a good gym buddy and holding them. After your 1st or second workout it’ll be a piece of cake.

The entire body mechanics of throwing a punch or kick already gives you a great ab and core workout. We still stop punching and kicking to train our ladies’ midsections and do some ab work. Sit ups, Planking, medicine ball slams,.

and twists help to make you feel the burn and get you toned for the beach.
