The rewards of changing your routine is definitely worth the new aches and pains. Kickboxing will transform your workout and lead to body toning and an increasing in cardiovascular endurance. What more can you want from your training? Our classes are all non contact so you can practice exactly like a fighter without ever having to worry that co workers in your office will think you’re abused at home. The only thing you’ll be punching is a bag or kickboxing pads. I’ll take you through a standard session at Westchester Fight Club.


The first 15 minutes


Stretching for five mins and then right into jumping rope. Jump along to high energy music for 3 three minute rounds with some calisthenics in-between rounds. Priming your body by breaking a light sweat will help you get the most out of the rest of class.


Time to De-stress


Right now its time to put on our gloves and start hitting stuff. At Westchester Fight Club we have a bag area with 30 hanging bags, so everyone in class can have their own. Pounding the crap out of a punching bag and pretending its your boss or ex is the greatest stress relief. The teacher will give you a combo that you’ll do for the whole round and attempt to get it right before you get too tired. Then after the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just long enough to teach the next round’s combo. After a class or 2 you will begin to look like you know what you are doing. You will most likely feel a bit uncoordinated and off balance in the first session, regardless of your fitness level. Because the demanding moves will be different for your body, not just your brain. Though the rounds usually are made up of pretty basic combinations, when all is said and done, it is a routine that gets better with practice. Plan to give yourself 3 or 4 sessions before you feel like you know the moves. All sessions mix the same general moves in a different order or part of the combo.


Pad work

Following a few rounds on the heavy bags we then partner you and give you focus mitts or a kick shield. Now we perform partner exercises with one girl holding punching pads while the other is pounding away on them and bobbing and weaving in between. We divide the class into new girls and more advanced students so the new students have simpler more basic combos while the more skilled kick boxers get longer more intricate combinations. Don’t think that holding pads is time to slack, in your first workout you will discover very quick that holding pads is almost as tough as hitting them.


Crunch Time


Your abdominals will already be feeling all the kicks and punches you have thrown. In our workouts we still take the time to work on our core and do some ab exercises. To get our girls ready for summer we’ll do all different ab work to help you get back in that bikini.


Now its time to grab some free weights. Now its time to finish strong and push it class is almost over. The Last thing we do is get a pair of weights. Punching will help define your arms but after a few rounds on the bag rack grabbing a set of dumbbells and weight training with the group will help you achieve the sculpted and toned arms you’re looking for.


Finishing Strong

Good job, you made it through your first class. Props for pushing it and making it through. an hour of kickboxing burns more calories then lifting weights, jogging on a treadmill machine , or riding a bike.
