The benefits of changing your routine is worth the new aches and pains. Kickboxing will transform your workout and result in body toning and an increasing in cardiovascular endurance. What more can you want from your training? You’ll practice like a fighter without having the fear of getting hit because our Women’s Only Cardio Kickboxing Classes are non contact. So instead of fighting with other students, the only thing you will be attacking is our bags or pads. I’ll walk you through a standard session at Westchester Cardio Kickboxing.


Warm Up Routine


Our warmup starts off with high energy music, whatever we feel like that day, Rock, EDM, or some 90′s pop. Have a high energy vibe in the bag rack before we start. What ever the instructor picks that day just like the music, we will warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We perspire and elevate your heart rate in order to get the most from your workout and help minimize the risk of injury.


Gloves on


Right now its time to put on our boxing gloves and start hitting stuff. At WFC we have a bag rack with 30 hanging bags, so every person in class can have their own. Punching is a great stress reliever. There’s nothing better then winding up and smashing a bag as hard as you can and putting life’s problems on the back burner for the hour of class. The trainer will give you a combo that you’ll practice for the full round and attempt to get it right before you get too tired. Then between the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just enough time to teach the next round’s combo. After a class or 2 you’ll begin to look like you know what you are doing. You’ll most likely feel a little uncoordinated and off base in the first class, regardless of your fitness level. Considering that the demanding combos will be different for your body, not just your brain. Though the rounds usually are relatively basic combos, when all is said and done, it is a routine that gets better with time. Plan to give your body 3 or 4 sessions before you feel comfortable with the moves. Many sessions blend the same basic moves in a different order or portion of the combination.


Pad work

Following a few rounds on the punching bags we then partner students and give you focus mitts or a kick shield. Now we begin partner drills with one partner holding mitts while the other is punching, kicking, bobbing, and weaving. We split it up into beginner and more advanced girls so the new students have simpler more basic combos while the more advanced kick boxers get longer more intricate combinations. In your very first session you will find out that holding pads isn’t a rest period . Its just as hard as hitting them.


Ab Round


The whole body motion of throwing a punch or kick already gives you an amazing ab and core workout. In our workouts we still make time to work on our core and do some ab exercises. siccors, Planks, med ball throws,.

and twists make you feel the burn and get you ready for summer.


Cool Down

We finish our training with some yoga and high fives for for finishing your first class. In an hour of kickboxing you burnt more calories than you could running on a treadmill , riding a bike, or lifting weights.
