Kickboxing brings you a renewed sense of confidence. Not only will you look sexier and have more energy from being active and working out, you will also pick up basic self defense. The way to effectively punch, kick, and knee to maximize power and speed. Just because our instructors are fighters doesn’t mean you will have to fight. There is no contact in any of our cardio kickboxing classes so you won’t ever have to worry about having a mark on your beautiful face. I will give you a walk through of a kickboxing class here at Westchester Cardio Kickboxing.

Stretching and Jump Rope

Our class starts off with high energy music, whatever we are in the mood for that day, Rock, EDM, or some 90′s pop. We need to get the mood and energy level up to get started. Whatever the instructor goes with that day much like the music, we’ll warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We sweat and elevate your heart rate to get the most from your training and help minimize the risk of injury.

Time to Hit Stuff

Now its time to punch stuff! We glove up and get ready to go. At Westchester MMA we have a bag mat with 30 hanging bags, so everyone in class can have their own. Pounding the crap out of a bag and imagining its your manager or ex is a great stress reducer. We aren’t just clobbering the heavy bag aimlessly, the instructor will take you through different combinations of punches, knees, and kicks. You’ll most likely feel a little uncoordinated and off base in your first session, regardless of your fitness level. Since the demanding techniques will be different for your muscles, not just your brain. Though the rounds usually are fairly basic combos, when all is said and done, it is a routine that gets easier with time. Plan to give your body 3 or 4 sessions before you feel like you know the movements. Most routines blend the same general techniques in a different order or part of the combination.

Buddy Drills

Now we do partner drills. Don’t worry you’re not hitting each other but you will hold pads or focus mitts for each other. Now you get to pretend to be a trainer holding pads for his fighter then change off and end up being the fighter bashing the mitts. You might feel a little awkward but don’t fret, it only takes a couple of try’s to get your technique down, both for striking thai pads and for being a good partner and holding them. After your first or 2nd work out it’ll be a breeze .

Crunch Time

Your abdominals will already be feeling all the kicks and punches you’ve thrown. We still take time to work on our ladies’ midsections and do some abdominal work. siccors, Planks, med ball throws,.

and twists help to make you feel the burn and get you toned for the beach.

Now its time to grab some dumbbells. This is a great way to build muscle while forcing your body to burn a few extra calories. Using both cardio and weight lifting in the class will help build shape and define your arms, back, and shoulders. Beating the crap out of the bag and holding pads already have your arms cooked but there is no whining now if you want toned and defined shoulders, back, and arms.

Almost Done!

We finish our classes with some yoga and high fives for finishing strong. In an hour of kickboxing you scorched more calories than you could running on a treadmill machine , riding a bike, or lifting weights.

Each part of our class will work the major muscles of the body. The combination of using the muscles in such a quick manner tones as well as builds an endurance that can accelerate your metabolism.
