The advantages of switching your routine is well worth the new aches and pains. Kickboxing will switch up your workout and result in body toning and an increasing in cardio stamina. Those two results are what everyone wants from their workout. Our classes are all non contact so you can workout exactly like a fighter without ever having to worry that co workers in your office will think you’re abused at home. So instead of fighting with other students, the only thing you will be hitting is our bags or striking pads. Lets break down our 1 hour session at Westchester Cardio Kickboxing.
Stretching and Jump Rope
Dynamic Stretching for five minutes and right into jumping rope. Jump to high energy music for three 3 minute rounds with some exercises between rounds. Priming your body by breaking a light sweat will help you get the most out of the rest of class.
Working on the Heavy Bags
Time to punch stuff! We glove up and get ready to go. Our bag system holds 30 boxing bags, this isn’t a taebo class, you want to feel your fist strike something when you throw a blow. Hammering the crap out of a bag and imagining its your compliance officer or ex boyfriend is the greatest stress relief. We aren’t just smacking the boxing bag aimlessly, the instructor will take you through different types of combos of punches, knees, and kicks. The more you train the better you will get, a lot of new clients think some of our women in cardio kickboxing classes are competitors, thats how good their striking has gotten.
After a few rounds on the bags we then partner members and give you focus mitts or a kick shield. Now we do partner drills with one partner holding pads while the other is punching, kicking, bobbing, and weaving. Brand-new students will have much easier combos while our students that have been with us longer have more difficult combinations. Don’t for a second think that holding mitts is time to slack, in your first workout you’ll see very quick that holding pads is almost as tough as hitting them.
Gut buster time
The entire body motion of throwing a punch or kick already gives you an amazing ab and core workout. In our workouts we still make time to isolate our core and do some abdominal work. To get our girls ready for summertime we’ll do all different ab work to help you get back in that swimsuit.
Now its time to pick up some weights. This is a great way to build some muscle while pushing your body to burn extra calories. The Last thing we do is get a set of dumbbells. Punching will help tone your arms but after an a couple of minutes on the bag getting a pair of dumbbells and weight training with the group will help you achieve the firm and toned arms you’re searching for.
