The rewards of switching your routine is worth the new aches and pains. Get shreded and in the best shape of your life. Those two things are what everyone wants from their workouts. Our classes are all non contact so you can workout just like a fighter without ever having to worry that co workers in your office will think you’re abused at home. So rather than sparring with other students, the only thing you’ll be attacking is our heavy bags or focus mitts. Lets break down our 1 hour class at Westchester Fight Club.
Warm Up Routine
Stretching for 5 mins then right into jumping rope. Jump along to high energy music for 3 3 minute rounds with some exercises between rounds. By beginning with 15 minutes of stretching and warm-up exercises you will get more out of your body for the next 45 mins of class.
Working on the Punching Bags
Right now we strap up our gloves and start punching stuff. Our bag rack holds 30 bags, this isn’t a taebo class, you need to feel your fist move something when you throw a blow. Hammering the crap out of a boxing bag and pretending its your boss or ex boyfriend is the best stress reducer. The teacher will give you a combo that you will work on for the full round and attempt to perfect before you get out of breathe. Then between the round you’ll catch a quick breather, just long enough to demonstrate the next round’s combo. After a couple of classes you will start to appear like you know what you’re doing. You’ll probably feel a little uncoordinated and off balance in the first workout, regardless of your fitness level. Considering that the difficult moves will be different for your muscles, not just your brain. Though the rounds usually are basic combinations, when all is said and done, it is a technique that improves with time. Plan to give your body 3 or 4 sessions before you feel comfortable with the movements. All routines mix the same general moves in a different order or portion of the combo.
After a couple rounds on the punching bags we then pair up members and give you focus mitts or a kick shield. One girl will hold for their partner. Brand-new members will have less complicated combos while our girls that have been with us longer have more difficult combinations. Don’t for a second think that holding mitts is time to slack, in your first class you will discover very quick that holding pads is almost as tough as hitting them.
Time for Abs
Your abdominals will already be feeling all the kicks and punches you have thrown. In our classes we still take the time to work on our core and do some abdominal exercises. bicycles, side planks, med ball throws,.
and twists help to make you feel the burn and get your midsection ready for the beach.
And your first training session is done. Props for pushing it and making it through. an hour of kickboxing burns more calories then lifting weights, running on a fitness treadmill, or riding a bike.
