Get your self confidence back! Not only will you look sexier and have more energy from being active and exercising, you’ll also be taught basic self defense. Our coaches are all fighters and they will show you effective technique to get the most power and speed out of your kicks and punches. Just because our teachers are fighters doesn’t mean you’ll have to fight. There is no contact in any of our cardio kickboxing classes so you won’t ever have to worry about having a mark on your beautiful face. Let me give you the walk through of a kickboxing class at Westchester Cardio Kickboxing.


Get Ready to Work


We blast some beats on the speakers and then begin our warmup. We have to get the atmosphere and energy level up to get going. Whatever the teacher decides on that day just like the radio, we will warm up with some stretching, jogging, or jump rope. We sweat and elevate your heart rate in order to get the most from your training and help prevent injury.


Time to De-stress


Time to punch stuff! We glove up and get ready to work. At Westchester Cardio Kickboxing we have a bag rack with 30 hanging bags, so every person in class can have their own. Punching is the best stress reliever. There’s nothing more relaxing then winding up and hitting a bag as hard as you can and turning life’s issues on the back burner for the hour of class. We aren’t just whacking the heavy bag aimlessly, the trainer will take you through many combinations working with punches, knees, and kicks. You’ll probably seem a little uncoordinated and off base in your first class, regardless of your fitness level. Because the challenging techniques will be different for your body, not just your brain. Though the combos usually are fairly basic combinations, when all is said and done, it is a routine that gets easier with time. Plan to give yourself 3 or 4 classes before you feel comfortable with the movements. Many workouts blend the same standard movements in a different order or part of the combo.


Buddy Drills

Now we do buddy drills. Don’t worry you are not hitting each other but you will hold pads or focus mitts for one another. Now you and your workout buddy will appear to be a coach and their boxer, and you will get to swap and play both roles. You might feel a little awkward but don’t fret, it only takes a handful of workouts to get your technique down, both for hitting thai pads and for being a good partner and holding them. By your 2nd or 3rd class it will be a breeze for you.


Gut buster time


The full body mechanics of throwing a punch or kick already gives you a great ab and core workout. In our classes we still take the time to isolate our core and do some abdominal movements. Sit ups, Planking, medicine ball slams,.

and twists make you feel the burn and get your tummy ready for the beach.


At the end we will have each girl pick up a set of weights and do shoulder, arms, and lower body exercises. Now its time to finish strong and push through class is almost done. Our ladies also exercise with some weights in class. Beating the piss out of the boxing bag and holding pads already have your arms like jelly but there is no stopping now if you want toned and defined shoulders, back, and arms.


Cool Down

Congratulations, you dominated it and finished your very first class.
